Soft Pastels

Soft pastels are a vibrant and versatile art medium made from pure pigment and a small amount of binder, giving them their rich, velvety texture. They allow artists to blend colors easily, creating smooth transitions and expressive effects. Because they’re dry and powdery, soft pastels produce brilliant, matte finishes that capture light beautifully—but they can also be delicate and prone to smudging, so fixatives are used to preserve the work.
